It’s quite a lively spot on a Friday night, at 7 PM getting a table for two people was not a problem without any wait time. Some of the original decor from Live Bait still lives here, like the taxidermy Mahi-mahi on the wall. Upon walking in you’ll find some neon lights, a long bar, and a back area with booths and tables. If the location and neon “BAR” sign out front looks familiar it was once Live Bait, a spot for oysters and happy hour. I would suggest going to one of the eateries located within Madison Square Park, which is across the street.First, let’s start with the awesome location in the Flatiron District. Hey, buddy, didn’t you realize there was a patron who overheard your comments? Is this what you call customer service? After that, I didn’t stay around much longer. He was badmouthing a customer who just left the place. While eating my burrito at one end of the bar, another employee came literally right next to me in order to talk to my server. She pretty much ignored me throughout my visit. My server didn’t ask me how things were going. The $11 Old Fashioned was good, but it was served in a rather small glass. The portions were generous, but the entree was so mushy. I ordered the $10 smoked chicken burrito. What did I see? Six other customers at peak lunch time. ![]() Well, I came to Flats Fix at 1 pm recently. Conversations were flowing as smoothly as the beers on tap. When I was a grad student at nearby Baruch College, Live Bait was hopping with plenty of customers at the bar and at the tables. ![]() Flats Fix is a doctoral-level case study. Sometimes presto chango does not work out for the better. You can search it on the Internet, easily enough. Live Bait one day, Flats Fix the very next day.
